Samsung Galaxy Note 7 launched!

Samsung has officially announced their latest flagship in the note series, the SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 7 today at their Unpacked event in New York City. The event was attended by thousands of delegates and was telecast live on YouTube across the world.

Building up to the launch day, the phone was extensively prone to leaks and rumors which to the most part of it turned out to be true! The phone is indeed a powerhouse and takes the definition of a flagship to the next level, literally!

The Galaxy Note 7 has huge 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 that results in a 515ppi density. The phone had dual edged screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 all around the phone including the back (fingerprint magnet alert!). The rear of the phone houses the 12MP camera which is the same as on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge with f/1.7 aperture along with LED flash. The front camera is a 5MP shooter.

Going with the internals, the phone comes with two processor options, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8. The RAM is 4GB and internal storage starts at 64GB with expandable storage upto 200GB via microSD. Battery is a moderate 3500mAh one and is non-user replaceable one. The phone has a mono speaker grill at the bottom in addition to a 3.5mm headphone jack and the S-Pen slot.

Connectivity options include LTE, dual band Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.2 LE. The device supports fast wireless charging and now has USB Type-C port instead of the micro USB ones that Samsung had in their devices till date. The company claims to have an adapter so that all your previous Samsung accessories are compatible with the Note 7. For security, the phone now has an industry-first IRIS Scanner in addition to the fingerprint sensor that the Galaxy Note series come with.

The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 out of the box and has Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top. The software packs in quite a lot of new surprises and new features that make use of the IRIS Scanner. The S-Pen is now has a smaller tip for precision and better usage in creating artwork or noting down points using the always-on display. After the S-Pen fiasco that happened with Note 5, Samsung has now built the phone such that the S-Pen CANNOT BE INSERTED BACKWARDS which is a very welcome step for the phone users.

The phone weighs about 170 grams and will be available in 4 colour options - Black, Silver, Gold and the all-new Blue. The pricing is not yet revealed and is expected to be around $900. The phone will be available starting August 19th in the USA. There is an event to be held in India on August 11 when the company is due to announce the launch of the phone in India and we will have an idea on the availability of the phone in the country by then.

Until next time,

Stay sleepy... zzz...
